Savannah patterns
There is only one recognised pattern within the Tica Savannah breed standard:
Spotted Savannah
The spotted Savannah has:
- Bold, solid and dead (not rosetted) spots.
- Round, oval or elongated spots.
- Parallel stripes that run from the back of the head to just over the shoulder blades and fanning out slightly over the back.
- Spots following the line of the stripes from the shoulders and continuing the length of the body.
- Smaller spots to the legs, feet and face.
- Strong contrast between the ground colour and the spots, giving distinct pattern.
Non-standard pattern Savannah
The marbled pattern is not recognised by the TICA Savannah breed standard and is therefore non-standard. It is mainly a result of the Bengal cats that were introduced early on into the Savannah's gene pool.
The marble gene is recessive so it can be difficult to know when the marbled pattern will appear. Whilst marbled Savannahs cannot bred from, they are no less of a Savannah and make incredibly special pets.
